“There have been goings on at the monastery of Saint Ambrose which I need you to investigate.”
These are the first words spoken to Brother Barnabas by His Holiness Mark the III, successor to Saint Peter the Apostle, and Bishop of Francisco, New Rome, in the year of our Lord, 2890. It is an unusual case; one of the highest importance and sensitivity, but Barnabas is an unusual Brother.
This post apocalyptic mystery novella was finished in March of 2012, and is based upon a dream I had (the dream actually shows up in the story). It is dark and fun and a little bit bizarre. Its also a reader favorite.
You can download several different versions of the story. The Kindle version has been zipped (3 files compressed into 1), and requires a program like Calibré to install. If that sounds like too much work, try the pdf version instead. The epub file should work in most other e-readers.

I did a lot of research for this story, and had a ton of fun reading old sources (like St. Ambrose) searching for verses to match the story’s dark secrets. Did I mention dark secrets? Oops. 
I do not know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else encountering issues with
your site. It appears as though some of the text on your content are runniung off
the screen. Can somebody else plase provide feedback and let me know if this is

Good question Terese. As it happens I don’t know fully. I have at least one other story with Brother Barnabas roughly mapped out, and a few more waiting in the wings of my memory. What I do know is he goes back to San Francisco, and eventually works his way up the ranks of the Skeptikoi, pissing off a few Popes along the way.
